Well isn't this a bunch of BS
by Doctor Who inwell, our sister congregation just had their co visit this past week.
on saturday afternoon, i was talking to a couple of ministerial servants in that congregation and they stated that an unmarried brother is not fulfilling to the max what jehovah wants of us.
they stated that the co went on a tirade that if you are unmarried you are being selfish and not following what jehovah wanted for mankind since he created eve as a compliment for the man.

Truth will always stand up to scrutiny if it indeed is truth. Lies can only stand if the truth isn't allowed to be revealed.
It's true that it can be offensive to you SIL and I'm not sure what kind of relationship you have with her and how much you can get away with, I know some that can talk to each other like that and still carry a relationship. You have to decide if you can say all those things or not. But I will say this;
I love it!!!!!
Man would I wish I could use your words and spurt them out to all my ex-friends and family that are still in.

I Don't Get It!
by John Aquila inthere are literally about thirty young single very good looking sisters in this one kingdom hall under the age of 30. that is just one kingdom hall.
in the circuit there are literally hundreds of young beautiful jw girls under 30 who are single and anxious to get married.
about two years ago, this one single good looking brother who is about 30 years old and who is an elder married this plain looking sister who is 59 years old.

I went to Mexico more than once to see if the fields were ripe for the harvest. They were! The country girls are the best. They love their momma, work hard and can find joy in the simple, uncomplicated things in life. I met a nice one but she scared me off with all her talk of wanting kids (always in the plural form). Alas, I wasn't
ready yet.
That’s exactly the culture and you cannot change it. “ALL” the girls –NO EXCEPTIONS- want lots and lots of children. If you don’t comply you will hear those famous words;
(Genesis 30:1) . . .When Rachel came to see that she had borne nothing to Jacob, Rachel got jealous of her sister and began to say to Jacob: “Give me children or otherwise I shall be a dead woman.”
And you will never smile again.
John, also from your other stories, based on the superficial types of women in congregations near you, what young man WOULDNT want an older, less annoying 100% into-herself woman?
I totally agree.

If I might add my "two cents" here. If that's who he is attracted to, emotionally, physically, etc. then that's who he is attracted to. If his orientation is to an older female, then that's what his orientation is. Who are we to judge?
You’re right, who are we to judge, they are the ones that decided they wanted to live together.

What Road Would You Choose---IF?
by John Aquila insay you could go back in time to when you were 15 years old.
no watchtower in your life.
but the experience you have now you could keep.

My parents met at a DC. They lived far from each other and had absolutely NOTHING in common except for the "truth". Without the JW religion I wouldn't exist.
That's actually a scary thought.

Let's see, choose between -a pedophile non-jw father
Or - an alcoholic/pill using jw mother
Not much of a choice... The WTS philosophy was the least of my challenges and obstacles.
Even by 18 I formed my own rules and was not a lapdog to the elders
I’m sorry for the situation you had to deal with, but you seem to have dealt with it pretty good.
The reason I started this OP this morning is because last night I was talking to an old friend from my former KH. He is in his mid or late-20s. Before he became a JW- at the age of 15, he jumped from his trampoline to his swimming pool and broke his neck and injured his spine. He became a quadriplegic at the age of 15.
That is the “Only” reason he became a JW,-the paradise earth that will restore him. And for him it is the best thing to be a JW because he is an elder and they use him and everyone cares for him. I never discuss ttatt with him.
But that’s what we talked about last night. He said all he dreams about every night when he goes to sleep is going back and not jumping on that trampoline and having a normal life. He said that comforts him and he always looks forward to dreaming about those days.

But I am interested in this concept of "if there was proof, I would change."
Does not the possibility that empirical evidence of a deity changing one's mind belie the claim of some atheists' stand who also say such evidence will convince them?
Belief is provisional. If I lived in the 16th century, my belief would be that the earth was the center of the universe and the sun revolved around the earth. If some crazy old man told me that the Sun is at rest near the center of the Universe, and that the Earth, spinning on its axis once daily, revolves annually around the Sun I would challenge him and demand proof.
And if I was given that proof, and the proof turned out to be true, I would change my belief.
Belief should be dynamic not static because all truth claims and beliefs are tentative and open to revision if new evidence is discovered.

Say you could go back in time to when you were 15 years old. No Watchtower in your life. But the experience you have now you could keep. What career choice would you make?
Any choice you wanted but no guarantees that you would be successful in your career. That’s just life whether you get trapped by the Watchtower or NOT.
It will depend on your planning, the talent you develop, your persistence, timing, the breaks you make for yourself.
Would you play it safe and choose a more stable career like Doctor, engineer, Lawyer, etc, or would you take a chance and try to make it big as a musician like Justin Bieber or Taylor Swift.
Or would you be persistent and try to be a producer like Steven Spielberg or George Lucas. Or would you give it a shot to be a movie star like Michelle Rodriguez and hang out with all the other movie stars?
Would you give it a try at being an Entrepreneur like Mark Zuckerberg or Jeff Bezos. Would you go to school with the goal of being a successful hedge fund manager like James Harris Simons.
At what age would you marry? Or would you prefer to stay single?
Watchtower or not, success might come or it might slip through your fingers. Divorce, accident, illness, or just plain bad luck can throw you off the tacks for good.
But sometimes pursuing your dreams whether you are successful or not, give you a sense of satisfaction that at least you had “The Chance To Give It A Shot, and You gave it Your Best Shot”
